Surgery for Mesothelioma Treatment

Important step in understanding the nature of confirmation and a cancer surgery. Combination with chemotherapy and adjuvant radiation therapy in the patients before and after surgery can be performed.
Paracentesis:

Paracentesis is a similar procedure using a needle to extract fluid, but the abdominal section of the body. It is the stomach or other abdominal organs followed the same method for extracting fluid from the cover. Peritoneal mesothelioma patients may benefit from surgery paracentesis.

Pleurectomy:

The most common treatment for mesothelioma pleurectomy, where the doctors or the patient's chest is opened and excess fluid from lung (pleura) lining to remove a tumor. Although this method of fluid accumulation and pain management, reduced, is still no cure. On the other hand, if the tumor has been the main form and may be significantly increased, a pleurectomy combination chemotherapy and radiotherapy in patients with an increased survival rate. In addition, the health status of patients and mortality rate within a pleurectomy and extrapleural pneumonectomy is only permitted to be used with less.

Thoracentesis:

Minor surgery can be performed not undergoing EPP or pleurectomy patients called thoracentesis often observed. In thoracentesis, a thoracic surgeon, a needle from the patient's chest between the lungs (pleura) stored in the cover to remove excess liquid. However, this method does not reduce the painful symptoms of mesothelioma, cancer is not a panacea, not a relief. In some cases, a patient base of talc or other agents of the chest wall defect and the growing tumor infused with a certain amount, does not help them to correct breathing problems.

Extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP):
Extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP) is a major invasive surgery is performed in a form of mesothelioma patients. In this treatment, lung, pleura (lung and cover), pericardium (heart near the cover) and hemi-diaphragm, and part of the tumor cells are removed. It significantly reduces the progression of mesothelioma, the patient's breathing to slow. It is usually performed in patients with cancer at an early stage when the tumor within the chest cavity. PSA is a good idea to order a post-operative period, the heart and lungs to withstand rigors of good things for the status of the patients. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy, even if the operation has shown promising results were combined, no guarantee of a cure. Research that extrapleural pneumonectomy and treated with a 35 month average life of a patient after surgery, pleurectomy has been shown to only 9 months to compare. However, high risk, internal bleeding, blood clots, pneumonia and the doctors surgery for an increase, pus, respiratory failure and death. Therefore, many surgeons EPP pleurectomy rather than the technical complexity of the concept as well.
